Rajasthan at a glance

Best time
October to March, when desert days are warm and nights are cool. Avoid April to June, when temperatures cross 45°C.
How to reach
Jaipur, Udaipur, and Jodhpur all have airports and major railheads. The classic loop is Jaipur–Jodhpur–Udaipur by road or rail.
Getting around
Trains connect the big cities comfortably; a hired car with a driver is the easiest way to reach forts, stepwells, and craft towns.
Rough budget
A week across two or three cities runs roughly ₹25,000–50,000 per person on a mid-range budget, more if you stay in heritage palaces.

Sample itinerary

  1. Days 1–2Jaipur: Amer Fort, the old city bazaars, Panna Meena ka Kund and Chand Baori stepwells nearby.
  2. Days 3–4Jodhpur: Mehrangarh Fort, the blue city lanes, and a desert sunset.
  3. Days 5–6Udaipur: lakes, the City Palace, and slow evenings by the water.
