Manali at a glance
- Best time
- Late May to June and September to mid-October for trekking; December to February for snow. The monsoon brings landslide risk.
- How to reach
- Roughly 540 km from Delhi (12–14 hours) by overnight Volvo bus. Nearest airport is Bhuntar (Kullu), about 50 km away.
- Getting around
- Local buses and shared cabs reach most trailheads; a rented two-wheeler works for short hops in the valley.
- Rough budget
- A 4–5 day budget trip from Delhi can run ₹10,000–18,000 per person including bus, basic stays, food, and a guided day trek.
Sample itinerary
- Day 1Arrive and acclimatise: old Manali, Hadimba temple, slow walks, plenty of water.
- Day 2Warm-up trek to Jogini Falls or the Lamadugh meadow.
- Days 3–4A guided Beas Kund trek, or a longer Hampta Pass / Bhrigu Lake route for the fit.
