Budget resource

Weekend road-trip budget sheet

A quick budget model for fuel, tolls, stays, meals, parking, entry fees, and the buffer most trips forget.

How to use this

Car and motorcycle trips from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Kochi, Delhi, or any city with long-weekend routes.

Use it before inviting the group, so everyone understands the real per-person cost.

Core costs

  • - Fuel: total kilometres divided by mileage, then multiplied by current fuel price.
  • - Tolls and parking: check both outbound and return routes.
  • - Stay: room cost plus taxes, split by the actual number of people sharing.
  • - Meals: highway breakfast, destination meals, snacks, tea stops, and bottled water.

Often missed

  • - Entry fees, guide fees, ropeways, boats, or local transfers.
  • - Rain gear, puncture repair, chain lube, or last-minute vehicle prep.
  • - Driver/rider fatigue buffer: an extra meal or half-day stay if return gets delayed.

Group clarity

  • - Agree whether fuel and tolls are split equally or by vehicle.
  • - Keep a shared note for payments instead of settling from memory.
  • - Add a 10-15 percent buffer before quoting the final per-person estimate.
